The Whole Is Greater Than The
Sum Of The Parts.

Today we are multi-skilled and often multi-task. Many of
us have more than one type of work in order to make ends meet.
We are a complicated generation who increasingly rely on
the latest technology, but somehow retain an underlying spirituality.
These thoughts were a starting point for this work, in
the way that these titles are only a starting point for the viewer.
Art can't help but reflect the times in which it is
made, but I use the medium of paint and canvas, which in this day and age is
sometimes considered outdated. I believe the visual language of painting is
just as relevant now as the use of traditional instruments to make contemporary
music.
It is what you say through the medium that is important.
The fascinating challenge for me is balancing the
language of colour with the vocabulary of mark making and the struggle with
composition in order to produce something visually interesting.
